Remember, remember; the (month) of November

It's already November... November.. 2013... Unbelievable. It's ridiculous that another year is almost completely gone past and another year is almost here. 2014...

You know, sometimes it feels like I just learned to make myself write 2013. And now, we're about to move into 2014. November is cool though. Thanksgiving is coming up, and that's cool. You have to like Thanksgiving.

Okay, has anyone been watching American Horror Story: Coven? Wow... I can say, without any doubt, this year's story is about the most disturbing, and gruesome that has come along. It's a good show, and the story is really interesting. I am intrigued by what I watch, but wow. Just freakishly ghastly. But it's still good.

Continued prayers for Sohpie

Just an update, and also, please continue to pray for the speedy recovery of Sophie.

She is still in the hospital at MUSC, where they did find that some of the infection did get through to her brain. She has had a PICC line put in to be able to get medication straight to her.

From what I understand, the operation was a success, but they are continuing to monitor her and keep her at the hospital. The last I heard was that she will be released on Monday. She is in good spirits, but with the situation being described as "serious," it gives us all anxiety.

So please, continue to pray for her continued recovery and that she returns to full health. Please pay for the serenity of her family, and friends. Please pray that our Lord continues to look down upon her in His loving and healing light.

All our times are in Thy hand.
All diseases come at Thy call, and go at Thy bidding.
Thou redeemest our life from destruction, and crownest us with loving kindness and tender mercies. We bless

Thee, that Thou hast heard prayer, and commanded deliverances for our friend and Thy servant, who has been under Thine afflicting hand.
He (or she) was brought low, but Thou hast helped him (her). May he (she) not only live, but declare the works of the Lord!
As Thou hast delivered his eyes from tears, his feet from falling, and his soul from death, may he daily inquire:What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits towards me,and resolve to offer unto Thee the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and to call upon the name of the Lord.
May we ever remember that recovery is only a reprieve and that some day we will go to our rest in the Lord. May we therefore secure the righteous path and live with eternity ever in our view.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Please, continue. Thank you.

Change the perspective on "Ironside"

I have the best idea for a tv-show to bring back "Ironside," on NBC.

"Ironside" Canceled

First let me just say, I have never watched the show, or even seen a preview for the show. All I know of it is somethings that have been mentioned about it at work.

From the sounds of, I probably wouldn't have watched it, but I think I know how to make it a show that NBC could keep on the air.

You have to give it a gimmick. It can't just be about a detective that can kick butt in a wheel chair. You have to make it something that will leave you guessing.

I propose the show come back, but the perspective of the show change. Ironside is still a good cop in a wheel chair, but unless the other characters are sitting, you never see their faces. All you see is up to their shoulders, but never above their neck.

Think of all the money that could be saved on actors. All you need is some under-paid voice talent to do the voices.

Plex it up!

So real quick, I just wanted to drop this on here to see if actually works.

I really like using my Plex Media Server. If this works, it should change the image every time a show is watched, it should change the image. Course, may require refreshing, but I don't watch that much television.

If you have your own library of videos, tv and movies, then you should check out Plex. It's awesome.

If you do decide to set one up, let me know, and I can share with you, my media.

This Thursday should smell like Friday

Ugh.

What a week; and sadly, it's not even over yet. Seriously. It feels like today should be a Monday.

This *lingering* back ache is really starting to subside, which, don't get me wrong, I am extremely thankful for. I can now stand up from a seated position and only take a few second to adjust and stretch before I can walk normal; where a few days ago, it took me far longer.

I think that I have taken enough in pain pills that my stomach is now beginning to suffer. I won't get into that. It's almost as unpleasant as the back pain.

Only today and tomorrow to go before we get to go and investigate the Town Theater and document their possible ghostly experiences. I hope that we get a very active night and have a lot to show Sandra, the owner. I think it's going to be a good night.

Sophie appears to be out of the woods and doing much better. I believe that that while there is a whole in her skull to her brain, it appears that the membrane is intact and no damage, or fear of future damage will affect her. They will have her in the hospital at MUSC till Friday, from what I gather. Thank you for the prayers. They are truly appreciated.

So on to a Thursday (Friday) that feels like a Monday.

Now if we can just get a good win out of the Gamecocks this weekend, versus the Missouri Tigers. I think it should be possible. I just hope that our offense, under Dylan Thompson can step up and perform. We have an amazing athlete with Mike Davis, and I really think that if they just feed him the ball and he can pound it out, we can see 300 or more yards rushing and a couple hundred more in the air. That's what it will take. Our Defense was on target last weekend, for a good part of the game, and it will be good to have a repeat of that performance.

Okay. I'm done just writing on what I'm thinking about. Should get back to work.

Prayers for Sophie

Asking for prayers this morning for my niece Sophie. For the past few weeks she has been suffering from swelling around her left eye (I believe). She'd been to the doctor a few times, and they had her on an antibiotic, which for a time, seemed to work to reduce the swelling, but didn't do away with it completely. After she woke up a couple days ago with swelling so bad that she couldn't open her eye, she was taken to the doctor again.

This time they told her that she needed to see a specialist.

So the family went to MUSC near Charleston, SC yesterday.

It is determined that there is an infection that has caused an abscess that has eaten away some of her skull. It's apparently between her sinus cavity and her skull, and while it hasn't affected her brain yet, it seems that the doctors want to act quickly to prevent any permanent damage.

It sounds like they are going to drain the abscess and attempt to repair the damage that has been done. Needless to say, we're looking at several weeks of medication of some sort.

All in all, if you read this, and have a second, please just say quick prayer for Sophie, and the family.

Thank you.

UPDATE 10:24 AM

I don't have much in the way of details right now, but I do know that the surgery went well this morning. While she is still asleep, I am told that they are going to go ahead and do the MRI that they didn't get last night.

When I get more information, I'll update when I get more information.

I just ask everyone to join me in more prayers.

Thanks everyone.

yea, a video game

I get it. I'm a huge dork. I know it. But that's okay. I like Marvel more then DC. I like Wolverine more than Batman or Superman. I like that Marvel exists in (sort of) our universe more than there being some other place where Lois Lane can travel from Kansas, visiting Ma' Kent, and be back in Metropolis is only a quick cut to another scene.

I get that there undefined factors that go into believing that Superman's realm, including Batman and such, might be possible, but come on, isn't Metropolis New York City by day, and Gotham is New York City at night?

I just rather believe that anyone can be a mutant, or super hero, and can control their own destiny. Batman and Superman, one's an alien and the other is from a planet far, far away, whose parents abandoned him.

(insert rim shot) (see what I did there?)

Anyhow, more importantly, Lego's Marvel Super Heroes video game comes out today, and I'm excited. That is all, nothing else really else to say. I hope the game is as epic as other Lego games that have come out, that I have concentrated nearly enough on.

I still haven't finished playing Lego City Undercover. This game is absolutely epic. I've spent more than 40 hours on it, and I want to say I'm only 17 or 20 percent through it. It's huge. And such a good game to play. If you're looking for something fun to play for the Wii U, it's definitely got to be on your Christmas list.

Okay, with that said, I guess those are my thoughts for today. Just looking forward to playing the Marvel game when I get home.

Oh, and if you're reading this, and have a second, drop on over to my other blog for S.C.O.P.E.

Our group has an investigation going on this weekend that we're very excited about. I hope it's going to be epic.

Recent Trip to Beaufort

I adore visiting my friends in Beaufort. Haven't had a lot of chances to go down and visit in quite a while, but it was nice to visit Ashley, John, Cassidy and Cwen.

Cwen is easily one of the happiest babies you could ever meet.

One of the things we got to do when we were down in Beaufort, was John, Cassidy and I went on the Beaufort Historical Ghost Tour. It was a really cool ride and I think we can all admit we had a really good time.

It was a carriage ride that went through the historic sections of Beaufort. It's got lots of stories about pirates, civil war soldiers, garden parties, and stories about a lot of the historic homes. A lot of them, are said to be haunted.

After we got back to the house from the tour, we made john go ahead and light up the fire so that we could roast marshmallows, as well as several beer bottles. Apparently, the fire gets hot enough that you can go ahead and melt the glass and get some pretty weird shapes out of them.

Sunday morning we got up, after staying up too late, Saturday night, and headed out to Brunch to meet a bunch of friends, including Elyse and John and Declan. The food was okay, but it was good to see a bunch of people that I haven't seen in a while, and even make some new friends.

It was a good time, and I look forward to the next visit, whether it's here or there.

#sushiThursday, it's what's for Lunch

Once again, #sushiThursday did not disappoint. It is so yummy, and so good. I guess this could wind up being a review for #Inakaya, on Oneil Court, in Columbia, SC. I don't know that I know who all three of the #sushiChefs are, but I know Maru is the head #sushiChef. He is a pleasure to talk to when there. Seriously, it's just really nice to sit there and eat and talk to him. He's a good guy.

The food is always prepared right there in front of us, if we are sitting at the #sushiBar. The other two guys, who are basically his assistants, do a very good job.

i have had sushi had other places, and seriously, it's better here. #Inakaya #columbiaSC

This is what is left of the #redDragonRoll.

And this is Rusty enjoy the rest of the #redDragonRoll.

Stabbed in the head

I feel like I have been stabbed in the head; likely by something like an ice pick, or something like that. On top of that, this is now day 8 of the worst sore throat, caused by allergies that I have ever suffered from. But I won't let it break my spirits because today is volleyball day, and I won't let it get in my way. After all, I guess I had this sore throat last week when we played. So I can do it again.
I enjoy playing volleyball because it doesn't seem to matter what the level of experience, or talent, or whatever is of the group, we all just have a good time.

I take that back, we do tend to have one or two, mainly one person that does show up to play from time to time that is, while not very good themselves, torments others about their skills. Course, this particular person has sort of been a pain in the ass since I met them.

So I guess that is what has me inspired today, is that I get to go to volleyball. That, and today is #sushiThursday, and I love #sushiThursday, even if some people don't give it a chance. I know this one person who is old, old, old, and she won't ever even go to a place because she said that she didn't like it 15 years ago. So after 15 years, she can't give the place another try. Which is fine, I'm not going to beg anyone to go eat lunch.

This to me, looks so good. Yummy.

But this person is under the impression that I choose to go to lunch for sushi just to put her off, so she won't go to lunch. If that were the case, I'd say sushi every day. But I don't. It's #sushiThursday. And on to #InakayaColumbiaSC we go!

The Bad Trifecta

One of those cliches that always seems to come around, all the time, is the "rule of three." When ever something bad happens, you can always count on there being something either before it or after it, but there will always be three events. Generally they are loosely tied together because it's absurd. It's hooky and non-sense. It's superstitious to think that everything bad happens to you  in threes. I'm just not willing to concede that to be the case.

But...

We already know that on Monday, on my drive home, I was in the middle lane near Broad River Road on I-20 when I got bumped on my back left quarter panel. The woman that bumped me drove off, never made eye contact with me, and probably realizes that she did something wrong and then took off because she either didn't have insurance, wasn't from here, or maybe already had too many points on her license. Either way, she performed a "hit and run" and I will likely never see or hear from her again. No real damage was caused.

That's one...

This morning, I get in the car, and get half way down the drive way and flick on the lights, since it is dark. They all come on for about a half a second, and then my right side head light just blinks out. I realize that isn't the end of the world, and neither was the first event, but strangely enough, they both involve my car!

<insert loud and ominous DUN DUN DUN>

So what next? It's going to be car related isn't? If I believed in any of that hooky non-sense. Right? ... right?

Upcoming Vacation

So one of the things that I really am looking forward to on this vacation is checking out the old, abandoned military fort, Fort Fremont.

One of the things that I have read about the fort is that there is the possibility that it is haunted. That there were never any "battles" or anything like that, but that there was a skirmish involving locals, and some running of alcohol during prohibition times. Apparently someone was killed there or as a result of the soldiers that were stationed there. Something like that. I'd have to look over the article to see what's what. I'll do that before I go.

But there is a few instances of reports of a light that is seen going up and down the steps, and possibly drifting around the top of the fort, as if someone were just making their rounds. I'll take the mel-meter and infrared camera and see if I see anything. I'm sure I'll report on it if I do.

Hit and Run

Wow, firstly, two posts in one day. Crazy.
Now, I'm crazy.

So I am driving home this afternoon. I get to about Broad River Road on I-20. I am driving in the middle lane when out of the blue, I feel like someone just hit my back left quarter-panel. I look in my mirrors, but don't see anyone around. I throw on my blinker and start to move over to the right to get off and check the damage, when I see the car that hit me. It was a red, late 90's 2 door sedan. American made, probably a Chrysler or something, maybe a dodge. So I see it getting over as well, and I think, okay, "this woman is getting over two, we can check the damage and trade insurance." She pulls around behind me, I pull over and she pulls over. Only I pull to a stop on the highway side of the exit, while she pulls up the exit and then takes a right. I would have gone after her, except that I would have had to drive up the grass and I don't think that would have worked. I called *HP and was basically told that with out more of a description of the car that hit me, or a license tag, there wasn't anything that they could do. So, this hit and run will basically go undocumented because she was able to just fly on.

Unbelievable. It looked to be a light skinned black woman, in her mid 40's. She had puffy hair around the sides, but was close to the head on top. That's about the best description I think that I can give. She rubbed her tire off on the side of my Element, which is now paid off, and that's the only reason I can come with as to why I have this target on my back.

The good news is, that this one likely won't put me in physical therapy like last time.

UPDATE - 5/14/2013 10:16 AM

Took a picture of where I got hit. Wasn't a big deal. But just a little nerve-shaking.

Cookie and the Nail

Poor Cookie. Well, get back to the house Saturday from being out for a while and I go to let her out. Well, as soon as I open the door, she runs out very quickly. I heard her hit the door when she went out, but she wasn't limping when she was running, I figured everything was okay. When she came back to the door, I looked down and saw the blood. She had yanked her nail completely off. I had to take her to the animal hospital. I hate seeing my "baby girl" in pain. It really sucks. But they have me giving her antibiotics and some thing for the pain. It really stinks watching her limp around on the bad paw, but I'm hoping that we will see progressive improvement here very soon. I really hope so. Any prayers that anyone wants to say for my girl, I would sincerely appreciate it.

It has literally been, years since I wrote anything here. I have been keeping my own journal in paper form for several years. It's always better to get your thoughts down and out of you head to keep yourself from going crazy. I wish that some people I knew would do that. I can think of several instances that would have kept the crazy from happening if they just took a step back and wrote down, and reflected on their own thoughts. Oh well, crazy-be-crazy.

Can't wait to go to the beach in a couple weeks. So looking forward to it. It will be nice to be away. I really look forward to it. That will be memorial day weekend. Going to head down to St. Helena Island, near Beaufort. That means visiting with some friends there too. Really looking forward to it.
